Physical Therapy

What is Physical Therapy?

Physical Therapy as defined by the American Physical Therapy Association is a dynamic profession with an established theoretical and scientific base and widespread clinical applications in the restoration, maintenance, and promotion of physical function.   Our physical therapists treat a wide range of conditions including sports/orthopedic injuries, post-surgical rehabilitation, neurologic rehabilitation, balance/vestibular therapy, back and neck pain, work-related injuries, and motor vehicle accidents.  We also have additional programs available including:  sport-specific conditioning, health/wellness programs and educational services regarding physical health and injury prevention for the community.

What can you expect from treatment at Harbor Physical Therapy & Wellness Clinic?

Our physical therapists emphasize a hands-on, personalized treatment program with regular re-assessments to assure we are meeting your individual needs.  On your first visit you can expect a new patient evaluation.  A history/interview will be taken to review your history and current condition.  This will be followed by a physical examination assessing range of motion, joint mobility, strength, and posture.  The physical therapist will then work with you to develop a treatment plan and establish goals.  Treatment will follow and emphasize manual therapy (skilled hands on intervention) and therapeutic exercise (strength/stabilization, ROM, and balance).  Treatment may also include kinesio or athletic taping, and modalities such as ultrasound (deep heat) and various forms of electrical stimulation.  Our ultimate goal of treatment is to not only address your condition, but provide you the tools to maintain a healthy and enjoyable lifestyle.  After completion of treatment we invite you to continue on with our aftercare fitness program.
